Turning Funding Opportunities Into Business Growth

The Fayetteville HUB Center has played a vital role in our company’s growth. Their dedicated support helped us successfully apply for the City of Fayetteville’s Can Do Performance Funding—a game-changing opportunity that’s allowing us to expand our operations and pursue new goals. Beyond funding, the HUB has connected us to valuable city resources, business workshops, mentorship, and networking opportunities that have strengthened our strategy and vision. It’s more than a resource—it’s a true partner in our success.

Maybridge Development

From Emerging Entrepreneur to Community Developer

When I came to the FSU HUB, I had a vision for Maybridge Development: equitable development, disaster recovery, and sustainable community infrastructure. The HUB gave me the capacity to make it real. I passed the General Contractor exam in 2024, kept building through Women In Construction, the Advanced Contractors Academy, and Level UP Scale, and became one of the first recipients of Can-Do Finance Program funding. That capacity led to a city contract for affordable housing and, most recently, a USDA program management contract to help lead Western North Carolina's Hurricane Helene recovery. None of this happens without the FSU HUB. I went from an emerging entrepreneur to a licensed contractor, an employer, and now a critical developer in disaster recovery work that matters far beyond our community.

Building a Strong Foundation for Business Growth

I began working with the HUB before launching in June 2025, using HUB programming, one-on-one support, networking, and coworking space to build a strong foundation. Through HUB connections, I also utilized VBOC’s Boots to Business program. Today, Emerald Insurance Advocates is a preferred SLS vendor for PWC, a SAM-registered prime contractor, and has welcomed its first FSU intern as the business continues to grow.

Building a More Competitive Construction Business

Working with the HUB has helped me move beyond simply working in construction to building a professional, sustainable business. Through the HUB’s resources and guidance, I’ve strengthened my understanding of bookkeeping, estimating and bidding, documentation, and preparing for contracting opportunities. The Advanced Contractors Academy was especially valuable, giving me a clearer understanding of the construction industry’s tiers and what it takes to grow from a small contractor into a more established and competitive business. The HUB has provided the knowledge, resources, and foundation I need to continue growing my company.

Connecting Small Businesses to Contracting Opportunities

Working with the HUB has been a valuable part of the growth of CM LLC (Cruz Masters LLC). One of our goals has been to expand our access to contracting opportunities and continue building relationships with public agencies and other organizations in our community. The HUB helped guide us through the process of obtaining our HUB certification and has continued to support our company by connecting us with bidding and contracting opportunities. Having access to those resources has helped us better understand the opportunities available and positioned our company to compete for projects that can contribute to our continued growth. What I appreciate most about the HUB is that their support goes beyond simply providing information. They work to connect local business owners with real resources and opportunities that can make a difference. I am grateful for the assistance they have provided to CM LLC and look forward to continuing to grow our business and create opportunities in our community.

Turning Government Contracting Into a Growth Strategy

The HUB was instrumental in helping Personameant Solutions expand its capacity and diversify its service offerings. Through its resources, guidance, and programming, I learned more about government contracting and how to position my business to pursue opportunities in that space. That knowledge helped me see government contracting as a strategic growth path—not only for my own business, but also as an additional area where I can support entrepreneurs and service-based businesses. The HUB created a valuable environment for learning, connection, and accessing information that has strengthened my business direction.

Vanity Esteem

Preparing a Business for Sustainable Growth

Working with the HUB has been transformative for me and my business. As the owner of Vanity Esteem Colonics & Body Solutions, a digestive wellness business founded in 2020, I have expanded to serve clients in Fayetteville and Raleigh, created employment opportunities, and built an online community of more than 80,000 followers. Through the HUB’s Level Up to Scale cohort, I gained the knowledge, resources, and confidence to evaluate my business more strategically and prepare for sustainable growth. The program strengthened my understanding of cash flow, profitability, revenue growth, funding options, and strategic marketing through guidance from financial and business experts. Most importantly, the cohort helped me transition from simply operating my business to thinking like the leader of a scalable and sustainable company. I am grateful for the HUB’s support and excited to apply what I learned as Vanity Esteem enters its next phase of growth.
